Big Fun Art
By Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

U.S. National Deadline: December 11, 2017 – Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, in Association with the Smithsonian Institution, announces a call for artists for its upcoming national juried exhibition, ‘Big Fun Art’. All media welcome; small to large-scale works; indoor and outdoor works accepted; cash awards. The exhibition is open to artists age 18 and older working in the U.S.

Let’s take a break from the news of global doom and gloom and celebrate BIG FUN ART! Bright colors, bold scales, and a playful spirit are just what we need to distract us from the worries of the day. Inspired by the likes of Yayoi Kusama, and the recent addition to Annmarie Sculpture Garden of a work by Taiwanese artist, Hung Yi, BIG FUN ART seeks to capture a jovial and exuberant spirit. There may be a profound subtext, but on the surface the jury is looking for works that possess a boldness in color, an exaggeration in scale, abundance in repetition, dynamic in pattern, or playful in subject.

The exhibition will take place February 16 – September 23, 2018, at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Maryland – about an hour from the Baltimore-Washington metro area.
