International Deadline: June 12, 2017 – ARC Gallery, an internationally recognized exhibition space, announces a worldwide call for artists for its upcoming exhibition, “Shout!”.

As political passions sweep the country, public expression has taken the form of marching, petitioning, donating, writing to congress…. While ARC Gallery encourages all these voices of outrage and resistance, the gallery is particularly committed to supporting creative expression as a vital and essential avenue of engagement as well.

Because of this, ARC invites artists to participate in an exhibition, opening in July 2017, which will bring together a host of voices, culminating in a collaborative SHOUT! for justice, democracy, and equality.

In this call, ARC seeks out a diversity of art and artists, recognizing that in the awareness of our intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and celebrate the differences among us. All applications are welcome.

We are looking for visual artists (2-D, sculptural, video or performance) who wish to join a chorus of passionate voices speaking out on current issues which affect them directly or about which they have a particular opinion.

Original works created within the last three years. All mediums and materials will be considered in addition to video and performance based arts. No projections or media installations will be accepted for this show due to space limitations. Open to all artists, nationwide and international.

Patricia Nguyen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She is a performance artist, educator, and scholar. She has performed at the NHA SAN collective in Vietnam, the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco, Links Hall, Oberlin College, Northwestern University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Prague Quadrennial, and Museum of Memory and Human Rights in Chile.

She has facilitated training and workshops with The Fulbright Program, American Center at the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, Jane Addams Hull House, Christina Noble Foundation… see more

The juror will choose entries on the basis of their artistic merit and expressivity. The Juror will also choose three juror-awards, each of which comes with a monetary prize.

Works will be for sale unless noted as NFS (not for sale) on the entry form. ARC does not take commission on any work sold, but will act as a liaison for sales of the artists’ work.
