International Deadline: January 29, 2018 – Praxis
Gallery seeks the submission of photographic art that explores the
visual and social significance of abandoned space – where derelict
factories, churches, private houses or other empty places serve as the
basis for creative investigation. All genres, capture types, color and
black & white, traditional and non-traditional photographic and
digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.
Through the visual representation of abandoned spaces, artifacts of
history are at once fresh and new, ancient and decayed. The past
continues to live in these forsaken, ruined, or empty spaces and we ask—
Who were the people who lived and worked here? What were their lives
like? What were their stories? What happened to them in these spaces?
Exhibition Dates: Feb 23rd – Mar 17th, 2018.
Open to artists 18 years of age or older worldwide. All genres, capture
types, color and black & white, traditional and non-traditional
photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for
A Juror’s Choice and Two Honorable Mentions will be selected by the
juror and featured in the gallery exhibition, the printed show catalog
and the online gallery. Award winners will receive a free show catalog.
The Juror’s Choice winner will be featured in (and receive a
complimentary copy of) Praxis Gallery’s Annual Review magazine. The
Directors Choice Award will be given to the artist with the strongest
series of images submitted and will have their work featured at
JUROR – ROSS ANDERSON
Ross Anderson is an award-winning fine art photographer and filmmaker.
His honors include the 2009 American Photographic Artists Grand Prize
Award and the 2011 International Loupe Award. His portrait
photography is currently featured in Creative Quarterly’s Fall 2017

The submission fee for entry is $35.00 for the first five images and $5.00 for each additional image.
Submissions are accepted as digital files through our online submission
form. Photographers will be notified of their selection ten days after
Praxis Gallery provides free printing, free matting and free framing for
all exhibiting artists. Praxis print technicians have over 30 years of
custom fine art printing experience. Images will be printed on our
state-of-the-art Epson P5000 printer on Moab Premium Archival fine art
EXHIBITION FRAME & PRINT SIZE
Praxis features museum quality 22”x 22” inch black frames. Selected
photographers will be asked to choose one of our three standard precut
white mattes: (a) 12”x12” (b) 12”x16” (c) 12×18.
SALES & ARCHIVE
Photographers who have designated that their exhibition prints are for
sale to the public will be contacted promptly regarding any purchase
enquires of their artwork. Praxis Gallery will take a 40% commission of
any sales. All exhibition prints will be archived for one year. All
selected digital file submissions will be maintained at the Praxis
Gallery & Photographic Art Center’s online gallery archives
Praxis Gallery and Photographic Arts Center is a community based arts
organization that aims to support the development of emerging and
