VSU Call for Artists for Solo or Group Shows
By Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery – Valdosta, Georgia, United States

U.S. National Deadline: January 15, 2020 – VSU Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery is reviewing artists’ proposals for solo and small group exhibitions for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years, and a curated show, “Southern Ladies.”

Some stipend money may be available to help with expenses, depending on circumstances and Gallery budget.

Artists 18+ are invited to apply; all media will be considered.

Artists may propose a solo exhibition, a small group exhibition, or ask to be considered for inclusion in the following exhibition curated by a VSU faculty member:

Southern Ladies
Southern ladies have often been expected to uphold regional traditions and radiate a certain feminine grace. While the phrase conjures up images of hoop-skirted hostesses, this group show reflects on what it means to be a “Southern lady” in the 21st century. With a satirical edge, the exhibition seeks to reconsider gender norms in a regional context by looking at the intersection of feminism, femininity, and Southern identity.

APPLY ONLINE – $15 Application
To apply, upload 5-20 images, (up to 6 videos if relevant,) and include a short description of your proposed exhibition with a list of all participating artists (for self-organized small group exhibitions.) Include artist statement(s,) artist CV(s) and describe any expenses that you would like/need covered by the Gallery (e.g., shipping of artwork.)

Please indicate if you would like your work considered for Southern Ladies. This is not a juried show, but you may be invited to show if we feel your work fits with the particular theme of the exhibition.

Questions? Contact Gallery Director Professor Julie Bowland: (229) 333-5835.
