By Lore Degenstein Gallery

U.S. National Deadline: September 1, 2018 – The Lore Degenstein Gallery of Susquehanna University announces a call for artists for its  Tenth Annual National Figurative Drawing and Painting Competition and Exhibition, on display October 20 – December 9, 2018. $6000 in Cash Awards.

Our annual national juried Figurative Drawing and Painting Competition holds a prominent place in the exhibition schedule and has been instrumental in building our permanent collection of contemporary figurative art.

This is a juried visual art competition and exhibition that is open to two-dimensional figurative artists (referencing the human figure), who are over the age of 18, working in painting, drawing, printmaking, or fiber.

Lance Esplund is an art critic for the Wall Street Journal. His book “The Art of Looking: How to Read Modern and Contemporary Art” will be published by Basic Books in November.

Best of Show: $2,500
Second: $1,250
Third: $950
Fourth: $750
Fifth: $550.

Exhibition inclusions will be juried from digital media, so quality is essential. Artists may submit up to three (3) works for the non-refundable fee of $25. All works entered must have been created within the last five (5) years. Fees can be accepted online or by mail.

The Gallery will take no commission on sale of work. All sales inquiries will be referred to the artists.
