U.S. National Deadline: June 20, 2019 – Young
Sculptors, U.S. residents, ages 25 – 35 as of competition entry are
invited to participate in a biennial juried competition for the 2019
$10, 000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award.
Entrants should have achieved a significant degree of success as an
emerging artist of noteworthy talent. The winner will become part of the
Miami University Young Sculptors of the Twenty-First Century
Year 2019 is for Non-Representational sculpture only.
Don Desmett, Founding Director of Exhibitions for the Richmond Center, Curator, and Writer, Kalamazoo, Michigan
Don Desmett was Founding Director of Exhibitions for the Richmond
Center for Visual Arts at Western Michigan University (2006-2016). From
2000 to 2004 Desmett was Director of Collections and Exhibitions at The
Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (again as Interim Curator from 2018/19). He
also served as Director and Curator of The Tyler Galleries at the Tyler
School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia (1990-98)… see more

Artworks must not be less than 12”; and not exceed 60” in any dimension. May contain multiple/modular components.
Artwork should be completed within the past three years that
demonstrate the scope and depth of your work. All works submitted must
be available for the exhibition and purchase award.
Finalists chosen by the Juror will be notified in mid-July 2019. Images
of the finalists’ works will be retained by Miami University. The
$10,000 Yeck Purchase Award winner may be invited to visit the
University to coincide with the 2021 competition.
