U.S. National Deadline: September 13, 2018 – Young
Painters, U.S. residents, ages 25–35 as of competition entry are invited
to participate in an annual juried competition for the 2019 $10,000
William and Dorothy Yeck Award.
Entrants should have achieved a significant degree of success as an
emerging artist of noteworthy talent. The winner will become part of the
Miami University Best Young Painters of the 21st Century Collection.
Year 2019: Representational Realism Painting only.
Barry Schwabsky is art critic for The Nation and co-editor of
international reviews for Artforum. He also writes for such publications
as the London Review of Books and New Left Review.
He has curated a number of exhibitions including, most recently,
Tightrope Walk: Painted Images After Abstraction (White Cube, London,
2015), R.B. Kitaj: The Exile at Home (Marlborough Contemporary, New
York, 2017), Apostolos Georgiou: Positions (Frank J. Yang Art and
Education Foundation, Shenzhen, China, 2018) and The Divine Joke (Anita

Work dimensions should not exceed 72″, artwork must have been
completed within the past three years demonstrating the scope and depth
of your work. All works submitted must be available for the exhibition
and purchase award.
Finalists chosen by the Juror will be notified in mid-October 2018.
Images of the finalists’ works will be retained by Miami University. The
$10,000 Yeck Purchase Award winner may be invited to visit the
University to coincide with the 2019 competition.
