Mini/Micro: Art About Small Subjects
By Manifest Creative Research Gallery – Cincinnati, Ohio, United States

International Deadline: May 5, 2020 – The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists to submit works of art about small subjects.

It is a matter of perspective, of a certain proportional ratio between the observer and observed. Small things examined bring understanding. This requires a willingness, a wisdom, to inquire—to step outside of one’s ordinary paradigm into another world. It has been through our observation of things both grand and minuscule that humanity has found its enlightenment, its hope, and its humility. How are small things captured, conveyed, or considered by artists? How is the experience of the very small translated through creativity? How are the epiphanies shared, the Universe expanded?

Contrasting with Manifest’s annual Magnitude Seven small works exhibit, MINI/MICRO calls for works of any size which address the subject of small things.

This exhibit has no defined expectation for type or style of work to be considered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual, abstract, or experimental. Feel free to email us here if you have any questions about submitting work to this exhibit.

ELIGIBILITY
MINI/MICRO is open to everyone. The only limitation is that entries must represent original works which address the broad theme described above. Submitting works shown previously in Manifest’s physical gallery exhibits is discouraged.

Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media.

CASH AWARD
The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one significant cash prize ($2500) to a single work selected as the ‘best of the entire season’…  see more.

JURY & CURATOR
This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous several member volunteer panel of professional artists and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise relative to art and design. The jury will then pass along their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will design the exhibit from the jury-approved pool.

PUBLICATION
Manifest Press will produce a high quality hard-cover publication documenting each entire season of exhibits, artists, and works shown. This continues Manifest’s commitment to long-term documentation and dissemination of our projects, and the expansion of physical exhibits into a broader geography and time frame, while also bringing all exhibits together under one cover each year to create a better product which will be more valuable to the public, teachers, libraries, and exhibiting artists.

ENTRY FEE
$40 for up to four entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry. Fees are non-refundable. Number of entries is unlimited.

ENTRY
Visit Manifest Gallery online to Apply. The online submission process is preferred. However, discs may be submitted (see details on Prospectus).

SALES
Artworks are not required to be for sale in order to be included in our exhibitions. It is required that works are indicated as either “for sale” or not for sale (NFS) on the submitted entry form. Manifest Gallery will retain a commission of 30% of the sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition.
